I have had a hard time keeping up with blogging this month, hopefully I will be more motivated in April. I did, however, manage to keep track of my CVS shopping trips. Here it is...
I went on three shopping trips to CVS this month. All items purchased are shown in one picture but each week's transaction is shown below. I spent a total of $6.07 for $36.14 worth of stuff. I would have spent less out of pocket, but I forgot my extra bucks on one of the days and didn't really feel like going home to get them.
So far, since I've started this experiment, I have spent $23.19 for $82.25 worth of merchandise. About $5 of what I spent is tax. Go here to see my CVS journey from the beginning.

Harris Teeter Shopping Trip - 64% Savings
I love it when I find bananas in the discounted produce section. I paid $1.57 for five pounds and they are still in great shape! I plan on making lots of peanut butter smoothies and possibly some banana bread pudding with the Challah that's been sitting in my freezer for a while now.
Today I spent $8.91 at Harris Teeter and saved $15.60. That's a 64% savings.
Here's how I saved:
Some of the coupons can be found online. They are highlighted in red.

4 Bags of Sargento Shredded Cheese for $1
If you have a Publix nearby, I would recommend checking to see if the coupons for Sargento Cheese are still available. This week the shredded cheese is on sale for $2/bag so it will only be $0.50 after coupon. This is a Publix store coupon so it can be combined with a manufacturer's coupon if you have it. Make sure you look at the printable coupon carefully... It is very specific on what cheese you must purchase.
Here's how I got 4 bags for a $1...

I used 2, $0.50 off 2 manufacturer's coupons (Sunday paper)

Shopping trip to Harris Teeter, 80.8% Savings!
I apologize, this post may not be very well written. It is late... And I am tired. I just wanted to get this posted so that if you're wanting to take a trip to Harris Teeter, you can do so early in the week before all the good stuff is gone.
I did get some junk food (right after I posted about how Matt and I don't usually eat junk on my other blog - I know, what a hypocrite) but only because it was free or incredibly cheap. I really do try to eat healthy... Still, free food is free food.
How much did I spend? How much did I save?
My total for this shopping trip was $14.74
I saved $62.23
That's an 80.8% savings
Here's how I did it...
The coupons highlighted in red are printables (so you can save too!). If the coupon states DO NOT DOUBLE, the store will not double the coupon. I'm pretty sure that these are all the same printables I used (hard to tell because I printed them a while ago).
Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ Sauce: $1.25
Cinnamon Burst Cheerios: $2 - $.75 off coupon that doubled to $1.50 = $.50
Soft Scrub Gel: $1.99 - $.75 coupon that doubled to $1.50 = $.50
Ken's Salad Dressing: $1.70 - $1 off 2 coupon that double to $2.00 = $.70 each (bought 2)
Kikkoman Soy Sauce: $2.39 - $1 off coupon that doubled to $2.00 = $.39 each (bought 2)
Simply Lemonade: $2.50 - $1 off coupon that doubled to $2.00 = $.50
Simply Orange Juice: $3.89 - $1 off coupon that doubled to $2.00 = $1.89
Horizon Organic Whipped Cream: $3.19 - $1.00 off coupon that doubled to $2.00 = $1.19
Kraft Touch of Philly shredded cheese: $1.99 - $1 off 2 coupon that doubled to $2.00 = $1 each (bought 4)
Breakstone Sour Cream: $1.50 - $.50 off coupon that doubled to $1.00 = $.50
Deans French Onion Dip: $1.07 - $1 off 2 coupon that doubled to $2.00 = $.07 each (bought 2)
Nestle Ultimate Cookie Dough: $1.99 - $1 off coupon that doubled to $2.00 = FREE (bought 2)
Philadelphia Cooking Cream: $2.00 - $1.50 off coupon that double to $3.00 = FREE (bought 2)
Danactive Yogurt 4 pack: $2.00 - $1.00 off coupon that doubled to $2.00 = FREE (bought 2)
Activia Desserts Yogurt 4 pack: $2.00 - $1 off coupon that doubled to $2.00 = FREE (bought 2)
For the greatest list of deals and coupon match-ups, I highly recommend Southern Savers.

CVS Shopping Trip - $2.99 spent on $21.97 worth of items
CVS has a lot of great deals this week which was a relief to me because my extrabucks were about to expire (extrabucks have a one month lifespan). Like I said in my other CVS post, it is best to purchase items that generate as many extrabucks as possible and to use those extrabucks to buy more items that generate more extrabucks... And so on and so forth. I was saving my extrabucks in hopes that there would be a week like this.
Between sales, coupons and extrabucks, yesterday I spent $2.99 for all of the items above...
Here's how I did it...
Item: Herbal Essences Conditioner - 2 for $5.97
Store Deal: Receive $2 ecb wyb 2
Coupons: 1 coupon for a free product, 1 coupon for $1 off
Final Cost: both items free
Item: Listerine Total - $3.99
Store Deal: Receive $2 ecb wyb 1
Coupons: $1 off manufacturer's coupon (Sunday paper)
Final Cost: $1
Item: Colgate Senesitive Toothpaste - $3.79 (I purchased 2)
Store Deal: Receive $3.79 ecb wyb 1
Coupons: $1 off manufacturer's coupon (Sunday paper)
Final Cost: Free + $1 overage
Item: Men's Speed Stick - $2.99
Store Deal: Receive $2 ecb wyb 1
Coupons: $0.50 off manufacturer's coupon (Sunday paper)
Final Cost: $0.50
- If this was my first purchase ever, I would have paid $13.98 out of pocket and received $13.58 in extrabucks.
- Because I have been shopping at CVS for a while now, I already had $10.99 in extrabucks from my previous trip which made my subtotal $1.55. Because you have to pay tax on items before coupons, my grand total ended up being $2.99.
I haven't been keeping track of my CVS trips but I thought maybe I would start now. So... Let's say this was my first trip ever and I'll post every time I go to CVS to see how much I spend vs. how much I save.
Feb.13
Total before coupons (tax included): $21.97

My shopping trip to Harris Teeter - 74% savings!
If you have ever considered clipping coupons but haven't tried it yet, this would be a good week to give it a shot... Especially if you have a store nearby that doubles coupons... And are considering having a Super Bowl party. I won't be going to a party next Sunday but I will be eating plenty of nachos over the next couple of weeks.
Knowing that there would be some good coupons today, I bought two newspapers. The two tubes of toothpaste, which I got for free, were enough to cover the cost of them. Not that I really need more toothpaste... Matt's mom, Sharon, gifted us with enough toothpaste to last us for a while. But, hey, free is free and now I won't need to buy toothpaste for months.
Anyway. Harris Teeter has some pretty good deals this week (until 1 Feb) and, combined with the coupons in today's paper, I spent $12.41. I saved $34.08 which is a 74% savings. Just to put things into perspective... I don't know if you have noticed but the Tostitos are family size bags. At regular price, they run about $5 each. Which means $12.41 couldn't even pay for two bags of chips and one jar of salsa.
** To be able to get the sale price at Harris Teeter, you will need to have a store savings card. If you don't have one, just go to the customer service desk and apply for it.

Why I will never again spend more than $1.00 for cheese
I try to eat healthy... For the most part. My lunch at work usually consists of romaine lettuce and tomato topped with about about 1 1/2 cups of raw broccoli... Topped with about the same amount of shredded cheese. Okay, maybe not quite a cup and a half but nevertheless a lot of cheese.
Not only do I eat a lot of cheese at work, I also eat a lot at home. It is hard to keep paying for such an addiction, especially when the cheapest you can get 8oz of cheese is around $2.00.
Lately I have been able to get a lot of brand-named cheese for a $1 or less by using my coupons during sales. I have a good stock in the fridge so far. Hopefully it'll be enough to last me until the next great bargain comes along...
Oh, wait. Here's another deal courtesy of Totally Target. Never again will I pay over a $1 for cheese.
At Target KRAFT shredded and block cheese are on sale for $2 each. Use the two coupons below to get them for $0.88. Remember, you can use both a manufacturer's coupon and a store coupon for the same item. **KRAFT Touch of Philadelphia may not be included in the sale at some stores.

Shopping Trip
Today was a good day in shopping. I was able to get a lot of things that I normally buy, as well as some luxury items (cheese!), for very cheap. My total grocery bill between Publix and Harris Teeter was $20.55 and that includes a tub of yogurt and produce that I bought at regular price.
I saved $19.38, which equals to a 51% savings. A lot of the coupons should still be available online and I will link you to them if they are.
Check my other site Little House On the Beach in a couple of days to see what I create with my cheap finds.

Free one-year subscription to McCafee Internet Security
Another tip from a co-worker of mine:
If you have an account with Bank of America you can get protected with McCafee Internet Security for free for 12 months or you can get a 2 year subscription for about $35.
After you log into your Bank of America account, type "mcafee" into the search engine. You should see the link pop up right away.
You will have to give McCafee your credit card information and cancel your account towards the end of the free subscription or you will automatically get protected for another year and they will charge you for it.
My co-worker didn't know this but my old internet security subscription was about to end in about a week. Sometimes you just get lucky. I just got it installed and the process took about 20 minutes.
Thanks Eric.
